Donald MacKenzie

Donald MacKenzie was born in Glasgow and brought up on the Isle of Skye on the west coast of Scotland. Much of the inspiration for his painting comes from the beautiful scenery of that area.

The Blue Studio Gallery opened in 2003 and shows exclusively the work of Donald MacKenzie. Since its opening the gallery has attracted collectors and visitors from all over the world. The Blue Studio is not just a gallery, but first and foremost a working artist's studio with a friendly atmosphere.

A very versatile artist, Donald uses a great variety of  images for his paintings; from very delicate watercolour landscapes to idiosyncratic figure paintings in oils and acrylics. Donald is also a fiddle player with local groups and increasingly his pictures are incorporating musicians into the Skye landscape, sometimes with otters or birds looking on.
